With the addition of a bitter aperitivo to its list of ingredients, the Jungle Bird is far from typical in the tropical cocktail category. Rumour has it the original cocktail was created in the early 1970's at the Kuala Lampur Hilton as the welcome drink for the hotel's opening, and it has remained a popular staple in the modern cocktail canon since then. In our take, we eschew the traditional Jamaican or Blackstrap Rum in favour of a non-alcoholic cane spirit and a dash of rich, full-flavoured demerara brown sugar syrup. Ingredients 20mL Novara Bitter Aperitivo 45mL Non-Alcoholic Cane Spirit (or sub Seedlip Spice 94) 45mL Pineapple Juice 15mL Fresh Lime Juice 15mL Demerara Syrup Preparation Instructions Add all ingredients to a...
There's something special about the combination of tropical cocktails paired with bitter aperitivi. Located due north of the city of Novara, Lago Maggiore is the second largest lake in all of Italy, and the namesake for this favourite tropical sipper sweetened with the addition of almond orgeat and a blend of fresh juices, perfectly suited for sipping along the coastline. Ingredients 45mL Novara Bitter Aperitivo 20mL Non-Alcoholic Gin 15mL Almond Orgeat Syrup 15mL Fresh Lemon Juice 60mL Pineapple Juice 60mL Fresh Orange Juice 4 dashes Angostura Aromatic Bitters Preparation Instructions Add all ingredients except for Angostura Aromatic Bitters to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Cap shaker, and shake vigorously. Strain into a tropical, tiki-style mug filled with crushed ice, and finish...
Perhaps one of the earlier entries in the "modern classic" cocktail territory, the Jasmine has been a favourite for years. In our take on the cocktail, we've swapped out Orange Curacao for seville orange marmalade, and have reached for non-alcoholic alternatives to the traditional spirit/bitter base, including Novara Bitter Aperitivo. Ingredients 15mL Novara Bitter Aperitivo 45mL Non-Alcoholic Gin 20mL Fresh Lemon Juice 15mL Simple Syrup 1tsp Orange Marmalade Preparation Instructions Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with...
