Jasmine

Perhaps one of the earlier entries in the "modern classic" cocktail territory, the Jasmine has been a favourite for years. Created by bartender Paul Harrington in the early 90's, the original drink draws its inspiration from the Pegu Club Cocktail, and effectively delivers refreshing, bitter notes of grapefruit despite the fact the fruit plays no part in the list of ingredients. In our take on the cocktail, we've swapped out Orange Curacao for seville orange marmalade, and have reached for non-alcoholic alternatives to the traditional spirit/bitter base, including Novara Bitter Aperitivo.

Ingredients

15mL Novara Bitter Aperitivo
45mL Non-Alcoholic Gin
20mL Fresh Lemon Juice
15mL Simple Syrup
1tsp Orange Marmalade

Preparation Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  2. Cap shaker, and shake vigorously.
  3. Double-strain into a pre-chilled cocktail coupe.
  4. Garnish with an orange zest placed on rim of glass.
